Neither. I think that it's very sad that they are hurting so much that, in their mind, ending their life is their only way out. I don't think it's selfish at all, because really, what would they be gaining after they've died? Attention? It isn't like they'd be aware of it, or even be around to accept it. And those who commit suicide are very often people who keep their depression inside, and no one even knows how they feel. Dying is a scary thought, especially when you're so close to it, and I think that if someone actually went through the entire process of killing themself, then they were not doing it for attention; they were really in need of some help. <-- agreed. couldn't have said it better myself. i think that the survivors who are all OMG HE/SHE WAS SO SELFISH FOR DOING THAT TO US!... are selfish. why would you ask someone you love to stick around when they're in severe emotional pain just so you wont have to grieve. i think thats selfish.
